The most important factor in choosing a processor is the ability to quickly integrate into existing infrastructures at customer sites to save money and time.
There are 2 classes of processor architecture used in the world:
Open architecture i5, i6, etc., which has less knowledge-intensive technologies. It is produced in many countries, including Russia and China.
Chips x86, which are produced only by Intel - this option is more suitable for industrial production and solving large-scale tasks.
Intel was also supported by the fact that most retailers in Russia today use the corporation's products. For IXR, choosing this architecture meant adapting quickly, efficiently and cost-effectively to customer systems.
Cheaper Chinese counterparts are not only inferior to American counterparts in terms of reliability - they cannot be used in long-term projects due to the marketing strategy of manufacturers, which often consists in an abrupt halt in production of a particular model. This means that the equipment manufacturer will not be able to match parts to his system for repairing or changing power, memory and other parameters.
A careful analysis of existing proposals has shown that it is more profitable to immediately buy more expensive Intel central processing units, which have an acceptable industrial production and support cycle, and therefore are better suited for use in long-term projects. In other words, if you need to increase or decrease memory, repair or replace a chip on working equipment, IXR is ready to quickly solve system maintenance tasks using an Intel solution.
Operational reliability and ease of maintenance
The microcomputer is a small box-type device that already has all the ports for connecting scales, scanners and other self-service infrastructure equipment. If necessary, it can be easily removed and reinserted. This allows the use of innovative technologies without losing the speed and ease of maintenance, repair or replacement, if the need arises.
Our performance testing of many solutions from different manufacturers has shown the benefits of Intel® NUC:
- The microcomputer and boards do not get hot over extended periods of time, unlike competing products. This is important because overheating can lead to malfunctions and take the entire system out of service.
- The Intel microcomputer does not have a fan that draws in dust, which also leads to overheating and failure. In shops, it is difficult to achieve a dust-free environment, so this characteristic must be taken into account.
- The presence of a large number of ports in the design is another plus, since it is necessary to connect many paired devices.
- Configuration: the breadth of the line allows you to adjust the memory, attach a processor of higher or lower power.
